Why A National Sleep Out Movement?
People have been doing sleep outs for years, just like people have been trying for years to end youth homelessness.
Unfortunately, things have only gotten worse. 4.2 Million homeless youth experience homelessness every year, and not much is being done nationally to stop this.
We feel it’s time to take this issue and turn it into a national conversation. What better way to do that than to get hundreds of organizations to join us and do their sleep outs on the same night?
That’s what we’re trying to do.
NOVEMBER 16, 2019
A RISING TIDE RAISES ALL SHIPS
A Night To End Youth Homelessness will take place on November 16th, 2019, and we would like every organization to sign up and agree to do their sleep out, or even on the same night.
This doesn’t affect your event. Your sleep out stays yours, and your fundraiser remains yours.
If you don’t have a sleep out planned, or have never done one, but still want to be involved, we can help you. Even if you are a parent, or a grandparent, and want to be involved… you can.
Camp out in your back yard, or pitch a tent in your living room. Just take a picture with the hashtag #ANightForYouth and you’re a part of it. We just want you to register with us to help gain attention to the issue.
WHAT WILL WE DO?
We will provide a copy of the film for you to screen at your event, as well as a live feed from our event in Hollywood.
It will be a national NIGHT TO END YOUTH HOMELESSNESS and you’ll be able to interact with us, some of the celebrities from the film Lost in America, and some of our national partners to discuss the issue.
This is your way to join us and get excited about this historic event!!
Please join us and be included by the Guinness Book of World Records as we wake the country up to the plight of these youth!!!
Who We Are
Lost In America
We are the filmmakers behind the documentary film Lost in America which follows director Rotimi Rainwater, a former homeless youth, on his 6 year journey to shine a light on the issue of youth homelessness on a national level.
Lost In America is a feature documentary that takes an all-encompassing look at this pandemic highlighting issues like: human trafficking, the foster care system, youth rejected because of their sexuality, domestic violence, abuse, and more.
It also examines what many organizations, politicians and other public figures are doing (or not doing) to help these youth.
